FSD develops and operates an increasing number of mine action projects and programmes in countries affected by landmines and unexploded ordnance. FSD seeks to develop activities either by developing its own programmes with support from donors or by undertaking mine action contracts for the UN or other bodies. FSD works with its own trained workforce and develops human resource locally wherever possible. All FSD operations are carried out in strict compliance with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and the FSD Standard Operating Procedures. These operations provide the best value for the money that is invested while ensuring the highest possible level of safety for its operators and clients.
Our ActivitiesFSD undertakes the following activities to achieve its objectives: • Dispose and destroy landmines and other explosive remnants of war • Conduct and supervise technical surveys and clearance operations on- and offshore • Assist in the destruction of landmine stockpiles • Conduct surveys and assessments in order to allow for adequate planning and prioritisation of the clearance activities and optimal use of resources • Conduct rapid response programmes during and after the end or suspension of conflict situations • Act as a standby-partner for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), providing emergency mine clearance support upon request within 72 hours world-wide • Provide mine risk and UXO safety training • Promote safe behaviour in affected communities • Contribute to the worldwide campaign against landmines
