Daniel Bridges is the Head of Commercial Operations & Business Development for FSD Crosstech. He initially joined Crosstech in October 2008 as a consultant to review the SOMIPA support contract in Angola. He was then retained to design the operational protocols, restructure the project, and renegotiate the contract with the principal client and sub-contractors. Dan moved onto a full time contract in January 2009 with a remit to assess the commercial business development opportunities for FSD Crosstech and to manage the existing Angolan contract from head office.

Daniel has worked in the humanitarian mine action sector since early 2004. He worked for the HALO Trust as the Operations Manager in Sri Lanka, Deputy Country Director for Cambodia and Country Director for Mozambique. In July 2007, he moved to MMC International Ltd, a specialist risk management consultancy responsible for developing risk mitigation and health & safety processes for multinational clients working in mines-affected countries. Immediately before his move to Crosstech, he was responsible for developing risk management protocols for Thomson Habitats, a conservation mitigation company working on the DP Worlds £3bn container port development on the River Thames in Tilbury, London.

Prior to mine action and risk management, Daniel was the Operations Director for a start-up health company supplying surgical instruments to the NHS and private healthcare sector in the UK. He was also an Area Manager for Aldi GmbH Co KG’s Chelmsford region, running a group of five stores as Aldi sought to consolidate its position within the UK food retail market.

Daniel’s early career was spent in the British Army. He spent 7 years as an officer in the Royal Artillery and deployed on operational tours as an Infantry Company Operations Officer in Northern Ireland (1998) during the period of the Duncree riots and Omagh bombings, and as the Division Reserve Forward Observer for SFOR’s mission in Bosnia Herzegovina (2000). He worked with Surface-to-Air missile systems and heavy field artillery. He also spent a period as military training instructor and oversaw the training of over 250 recruit soldiers.

Daniel holds an LLB honours degree in Law and Politics.
