For a celebration of life

On 10 May 2011, at Kakkayankulam West area, FSD teams in Sri Lanka placed a monument to honour the memory of Dominique Morin (Momo), late Technical Advisor who died tragically one year ago. The design for the memorial is based on a natural rock as Momo enjoyed mountain climbing during his life time.

“Every day people like Momo dedicate their lives and their extraordinary skill set towards helping people who cannot help themselves – the world’s poor and disenfranchised who by lack of choice are forced to live their lives surrounded by landmines in villages and communities all around the world. It is the work of great human beings like Momo and many of the people here today that transforms these peoples’ lives, never seeking recognition or reward but always striving to achieve extraordinary things in the most difficult of circumstances” stated Nigel Robinson, Programme Manager FSD in his speech.

FSD extends its gratitude to the guests who gathered at the placement of Momo’s monument, specially the Government Agent of Mannar District, Mr. Vethanayahan, the GOC of 61 Division, Brig Ajith KariyaKarawana and colleagues from mine action sector and beyond to remember a man who made the ultimate sacrifice.
